Following up on the success of her first full-length film, I'm the One That I Want, Cho returns with a new stand-up comedy routine. Filmed in Seattle, the Korean American comic continues with her formula of anecdotal stories about sex, race, body image, and self-esteem. Appealing to a young, urban audience, Cho's raunchy humor is the comedy of diversity. Touching on themes of body size, ethnic identification, and gender equity, she devotes most of her monolog to validating her lifestyle. Cho does voice impressions and facial expressions very well, especially when imitating her mother, but the humor is largely generational in appeal. The film contains fairly explicit sexual content and language. Libraries collecting in ethnic/lifestyle humor may consider for purchase, but Notorious C.H.O. is probably of more interest to fans than general audiences.-Linda Frederiksen, Washington State Univ.
