Cosgrove began her career at the age of seven, making several appearances in television commercials. She made her acting debut as Summer Hathaway in the film ''School of Rock'' (2003), and her breakthrough role was Megan Parker on the Nickelodeon sitcom ''Drake & Josh'' (2004–2007). She rose to mainstream prominence for playing Carly Shay on the Nickelodeon sitcom ''iCarly'' (2007–2012), and Cosgrove was the executive producer for ''iCarly''s Paramount+ revival run (2021–2023). She also voices Margo in the ''Despicable Me'' film series (2010–present), appeared in the films ''The Intruders'' (2015), ''3022'' (2019), ''North Hollywood'' (2021), ''Drugstore June'' (2024), and ''Mother of the Bride'' (2024), and hosts the CBS series ''Mission Unstoppable with Miranda Cosgrove'' (2019–present).
Cosgrove made her musical debut in 2008 with the soundtrack for ''iCarly'', in which she performed four songs, including the show's theme song, "Leave It All To Me". In 2009, she debuted her first extended play, ''About You Now''. In April 2010, she released her debut studio album, ''Sparks Fly''. The album featured the single "Kissin U" which peaked at number 54 on the ''Billboard'' Hot 100 and was certified gold.
