Gayle E. Pitman

Gayle E. Pitman is an American professor and children's book author. Her debut children's book, ''This Day in June'', was one of the most banned and challenged books of its time in the United States. Pitman also teaches psychology and women/gender studies at Sacramento City College. She currently serves as the Dean in the Department of Planning, Research & Institutional Effectiveness.

Pitman grew up in New Jersey and moved to the San Francisco Bay Area in the early 1990s. Pitman received her doctor of philosophy degree from California School of Professional Psychology at Alameda. In 1998: her dissertation looked at the relationship between body dissatisfaction and internalized homophobia in lesbians. In 2001, she moved to Sacramento. Provided by Wikipedia
